The Okaloosa County Health Department announced Friday morning it is rescinding all oil impact notices on local beaches.
A decision was made after extensive testing of the water and sand indicated that no significant health threats exist, said Dr. Karen Chapman, the director of the county’s health department.
“The sampling consistently found that chemicals of concern were below the chronic human health benchmark value,†Chapman said.

The signs, which inform beach goers that the beach had been affected by an oil spill have been up since tar chips from the Deepwater Horizon spill washed up on area beaches in late June.
Crews were being sent to pick up the signs this afternoon, Chapman said.
