1. Mardi Gras
Just like the rest of the south, Mardi Gras is a big deal in Destin. Mardi Gras' North American origins actually began just a few hours west of Destin in Mobile, AL, which is probably why it's still such a big event here. Additionally, between the Mardi Gras Masquerade on March 1st, to the Mardi Gras Parade on March 2nd, to the Fat Tuesday celebration on March 5th, there are plenty of family-friendly festivities happening. 2. Tequila and Taco Fest
Tequilas and Taco Festival is a favorite spring event for locals and visitors alike. This annual event features live music, tequila tastings, and of course, TACOS! Head over to HarborWalk Village on the Destin Harbor March 8th-9th to enjoy tequila and tacos. There's also a Bye-Bye Brunch at Crab Island Cantina on March 10th. However, you need to buy your tickets in advance because this is a popular event in Destin.
3. The Sandestin Wine Festival
The Sandestin Wine Festival is definitely one of the most anticipated spring events in Destin. It was even named "Best Annual Event" by Destin Magazine. Located at the Village of Baytowne Wharf, this festival showcases incredible food, celebrity chefs, live music, and wine from all over the world. Additionally, this event benefits two amazing local charities, The Fisher House of the Emerald Coast and Sandestin Foundation for Kids. The wine festival takes place April 11-14. However, since this is such a popular event, you'll want to make sure you buy your tickets in advance and also book your vacation rental before it's too late.
4. Digital Graffiti

Artists from all over the world come to 30A to project their digital artwork on the iconic white walls of Alys Beach transforming the entire town into an interactive work of art. This unique event attracts digital artists, filmmakers, musicians, interactive designers, and photographers from all over.
5. Mac & Cheese Festival
The Destin Mac & Cheese Festival is one of the newest events coming to town this spring. Head over to the Destin Commons on May 19 from 1 pm to 3 pm for a fun afternoon full of everyone's favorite comfort food. Local restaurants are competing for the best mac & cheese in Destin and you can purchase samples and vote for your favorite at the festival. In addition, proceeds go towards the Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast.
