National Margarita Day While another round of winter weather is headed towards the East Coast, The Emerald Coast and The Beaches of South Walton are looking forward to another fantastic and springlike weekend. With the possibilities of blue skies and rising temperatures on the horizon, it's the perfect time to grab a margarita and celebrate National Margarita Day on Saturday, February 22nd. Created in order to celebrate the classic cocktail of tequila, triple sec, and lime, this holiday also recognizes the artisans who put their own spin on the drink, adding fresh fruit, salting the rim, or freezing the ingredients. A truly personalized cocktail, the margarita celebrates the promise of warm weather and good times. Here are five places you can raise a glass, with or without salt, in honor of this holiday. Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville opened over the weekend, and in addition to looking for your lost shaker of salt, you can celebrate all week long with margarita flights, daily margarita deals, and an opportunity to win a Key West Frozen Concoction Maker. On Saturday, you can participate in Margarita University, participate in the Great Margarita Toast and taste the winning entry in the National Margarita Day contest. Located on the historic Destin Harbor, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville promises to be one of the Harbor's hottest spots. Voted The Emerald Coast's Best Margarita, Cantina Laredo in Grand Boulevard offers hand crafted, top-shelf margaritas and sangria, as well fresh, Mexican favorites and some of the best guacamole in town. The restaurant will be hosting giveaways and contests all day long. La Playa, located in Gulf Place, offers dinner and drinks with a Caribbean twist. The margaritas are fresh squeezed and the cuisine is as innovative as it is delicious. In Seaside, you can explore the diverse menu at Bud And Alley's Taco Bar, which offers traditional, top shelf, and fruity margaritas. The bar has a whopping 38 different types of tequilas, so you're bound to find one that suits your palate. Finally, at La Cocina, located in grove, you'll find some if the area's most interesting and diverse recipes. The popular La CoRita combines a frozen margarita with a fruity swirl of Sangria and the Diablo Margarita, which combines top shelf tequila with cranberry, peach, agave nectar, triple sec, and fresh lime. On the rocks, with salt, or frozen, you'll find plenty of ways to celebrate National Margarita Day this weekend on the Gulf Coast.
