As of Thursday morning, Destin and the surrounding Gulf Coast communities, including the communities of 30A, were on hurricane watch. The watch was issued for all of the bays and sounds of Alabama and Northwest Florida, and the Gulf waters from Destin to Pascagoula, Mississippi out to 60 nautical miles. All area beaches were flying red flags, and as a result of the impending tropical weather, The Destin Seafood Festival has been cancelled indefinitely. City leaders have been meeting regularly to prepare the city for possible impact, and will be keeping residents and visitors informed. In Walton County, The Board of County Commissioners is meeting to finalize preparations and emergency management plans. For Five Star Guests heading into town this weekend, you can keep an eye on changing weather conditions via the National Weather Service or Weather Underground. Five Star's policy regarding cancellations and refunds is that refunds will only be issued if the National Weather Service orders a mandatory evacuation for the area your home is located. Once an evacuation order has been issued, Five Star will refund any unused portion of the rent to the guest, or will refund fees for guests who are due to arrive during the warning.
